School Rules

General discipline and code of conduct

Discipline is the foundation of Sophian life. Students and parents are requested to observe the following:

  • Students must reach school before the first bell. Latecomers may be sent back or marked absent.
  • The school uniform must be worn neatly on all working days. Blazers & jackets are compulsory in winter.
  • Regular attendance is compulsory. A minimum of 75% attendance is required to be eligible for examinations.
  • Leave of absence must be applied for in advance in writing. Absence due to illness must be supported by a medical certificate and a leave note in the school diary.
  • Every student must bring the school diary daily. Parents should check and sign the diary regularly.
  • Students are responsible for the safe keeping of their belongings. Valuables and mobile phones should not be brought to school.
  • Damage to school property must be made good by the student concerned.
  • Speaking English within the school premises is encouraged.
  • Parents are requested to co-operate with the school in matters of discipline, punctuality and homework.
  • The principal’s decision in matters regarding placement, promotion and discipline of a student is final.
